How to Configure an Action to Use Daily Update

Daily update is a feature that allows you to schedule updates ahead of time so they’re published and removed at the same day and time each day. This makes it easy to set up recurring reminders for events, to send a weekly report via email or to automatically update the status of a project’s progress. It can also be used to provide a daily list of upcoming calendar events for groups or public attendees.

How to configure an Action to use daily update

In the Actions console, select Develop in the top menu and click Intents in the left navigation to expand the section. Click the add_circle_outline button to create a new intent and enter a name. Once you’ve created your daily update intent, click the add_circle_outline to add it to a scene.

When a user invokes your Action with the daily updates subscription flow, they get an Assistant notification that they can tap to open the intent and interact with it. After the conversation opens, keep the registration prompt short and only offer it once—don’t pester the user with multiple suggestions to register or offer daily updates in other contexts.

Once the daily update has been registered, it appears in the users’ Assistant app with its scheduled date and time shown. Users can access it in the Notifications tab on their mobile device and choose the option to edit it before it’s published or remove it entirely.

Some updates need to be updated daily, such as a dynamic and fast-moving project schedule or a team’s availability for the day ahead. In these cases, a daily agenda is a valuable tool to ensure shifts are covered, that PTO requests are met, and that progress on projects is tracked.
